Class 3 2021 - 2022
Welcome to Year 3!
It is fantastic to see everyone again after the summer break and the children looking smart again in their school uniforms. I hope you all had a lovely summer and I can’t wait to hear all about it.
Our topic this term is ‘Stone Age’. We will be answering the question ‘Who were the first humans?’ through a variety of different subjects.
We will be building up our literacy skills through a variety of different books this half term including ‘The First Drawing’ and ‘Stone Age Boy’. The children will expand on their spelling, punctuation and grammar through targeted sessions and use these to expand their reading and writing skills.
The children will be focusing on place value and partitioning numbers to help solve addition and subtraction using a range of written methods. They will also learn about the relationship between multiplication and division and how to apply these skills to simple word problems.
In Science, we will be exploring animals, including humans. We will be learning why food is important for nutrition; skeletons of animals and humans and that their bodies are supported with muscles.
This half term PE will be on a Tuesday and Thursday. Children can still come into school wearing their PE kits on these days. Please make sure correct kit is worn.
Reading books need to be in school each day. Children will be encouraged to read a minimum (depending on book size) of 1 book a week. Books can be independently changed daily once they have finished and this will be recorded.
The children do not need to bring in their own pencil cases to school as we have everything they will need.
Homework will be handed out on Friday and due in the following Wednesday. This will be put onto Microsoft teams where most communications on day-to-day updates will be put. Email addresses and passwords to access this will be given out on the first week of school.
